The Gluttons Will Feed You the Truth
Students take food experiences to the blogging world
Singapore – Started out as clueless and inexperienced, a quintet of students only had their love for food to display. They wanted fellow food lovers to be able to share and talk about their thoughts on this universal bonding element and what better place than the growing blogsphere? They have since embarked on a journey in their pseudonym – “The Gluttons” where only laughter, drools, hefty appetites and the most important essence of all, food, are allowed!
These five Republic Polytechnic students want to let their readers know that hosting a blog is a serious business for them. With grand titles from chief editor to creative director, they have considered their individual roles thoroughly for their food blog. The blog’s main quality lies in the principle of honesty where readers can expect nothing more than pure honesty from their reviews. Affordability in prices is another consideration that they uphold for their readers of all generations.
“Food is one thing that everyone thinks about constantly,” said Jolene Lim, chief editor of the blog. “So our aim is to deliver the most delicious and affordable food in Singapore to our readers.”
“I want to try exotic and quality food,” quipped Sherman Tan, the only male member of the quintet. “But since we are students and are not working, we are on a budget. That’s why we look out for food deals that ensure we do not overspend.”
So why are The Gluttons entering the first ever Republic Polytechnic Blogger Challenge 2012? The Gluttons wishes to make a name for their blog in reaching greater heights for their content of food journeys to be passed on to many more. Besides, the team blog definitely fulfils the judging criteria of the RPBC. Original content? Check. Creativity? Check. Visual appeal and engagement with audience? Double check.
The Gluttons pride themselves on writing original and honest food reviews from visited places and are creative with their expressions. They ensure that their blog is not short on videos and photos too, with their personal additions posted to lure traffic for their blog. Feedbacks are made to the team and some can be very honest. So what will this team of food reviewers respond to criticisms? They may be tough on their reviewers but to their readers, they maintain politeness and graciousness.
With the blog’s unique personality that no sugar coating is allowed, they are sure to raise eyebrows among netizens and bloggers within the blogsphere. Having taste buds so truthful, the blog’s aim is to attract like-minded individuals and readers who would want an honest opinion on where to dine at.
Watch this space as their next adventure is at a restaurant whose name requires a second take – Porn’s. The restaurant’s name itself had caused controversy among netizens, even making its way to the infamous online journalism website, STOMP.
Join the team as they unveil the restaurant’s food and see if the quality and pricing makes up for the controversies caused.
Apart from their upcoming adventure, they will continue to update their blog with food related posts other than reviews. If you just want to have a good read or to end your constant frustrations on deciding on a place to dine, this blog promises that it has the essence that keeps your tastebuds craving for more and rest assure, the stories and reviews are pocket friendly for all!

Filipino and European descent, my taste bud remains loyal to the rich Chinese culture of Singapore. Hor Fun, Dim Sum and Chinese Rojak to name a few. Malay, Indian and Eurasian cuisine to add something special to my menu. Fun and quirky, I take pictures of things that shows unique sides of two different cultures. Other than eating, Music Movies and Shoes are the loves of my life.
DIANA | Creative Director
Greens are mandatory in my every meal despite what kind of food I eat. I seek for ambiance and cleanliness as I always feel cleanliness it affects the quality of food, thus the happiness of one's tummy. Having a unique themed cafe or restaurant would be plus points!
